Curiosity and Inspiration

Leading community innovators, researchers and advocates come together to our conference - Taking people inside change. We invite all participants to share experiences, strategies, and new ideas. It’s a space for collective learning and inspiration for effective alcohol policy advocacy, prevention approaches, recovery support, exposing the alcohol industry’s tactics, and shifting the public discourse.

Hands on Values

We provide dedicated spaces for deeper learning in the workshops. Participants can explore core values of our movement - democracy, justice and human rights and how they apply in alcohol policy change, recovery and mutual help, value-based communication campaigns, alcohol norm shift, sobriety and more.

Democracy in Action

The World Congress is the highest decision-making body of our movement. Our members come together to shape our shared future: we will adopt a new strategic plan, set our direction toward the Framework Convention on Alcohol Control (FCAC), and elect the Board that will lead our work in the coming years. When we act together, our work carries far beyond this Congress. Our decisions and commitments made in Slovenia will resonate across continents, strengthening the movement for justice, democracy, and human rights.

Kranjska Gora

The 71st World Congress will be held in the stunning alpine area Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. A charming town nestled in the heart of the Julian Alps, close to the borders of Austria and Italy.

Kranjska Gora is known for its dramatic mountain views, pristine nature, and status as a year-round tourist and sports center, providing the perfect backdrop for both reflection and inspiring action.

Getting there

By Air

The most convenient airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU), which is approximately a 45-minute (66 km) drive away. Other nearby options include Klagenfurt Airport (KLU) in Austria (approx. 40 min drive) and Trieste Airport (TRS) in Italy.

By Train & Bus

The nearest train station is in Jesenice, about 20 km away. From there, local buses offer a direct connection to Kranjska Gora.

By Car

The town is well-connected to major motorways via the Karavanke Tunnel (Austria/Slovenia) and the border crossing near Tarvisio (Italy).
